We learned how to open our individual student blogs today and enjoyed reviewing the work we have done thus far. Then, we viewed the blogs of some of our classmates. Moving forward, we will be learning how to read and make comments. Thank you to those parents, grandparents, and friends who have already left comments for our first grade bloggers!
On Halloween, all of the first graders enjoyed "traveling" to learn in the other first grade classrooms. We worked on literacy with Ms. Doherty, math with Mrs. Bates, and art with Mrs. Lewin!
First graders investigated a range of materials to see the effect that the length of an object has on the sound it makes. By stretching rubber bands on pegboards and over recycled materials, we discovered that the longer the object, the lower the sound. This was most pronounced when we used boomwhackers. When students struck each one, it was easy to hear the effect that length has on sound.
