The boys and girls did a great job practicing for their Winter Wonderland Celebration performance!

The boys and girls did an incredible job writing small moment winter stories. They loved reading their amazing work to their families and teachers at the Winter Wonderland Celebration! 1R students created "mugs" of hot chocolate to show math facts with sums to ten using marshmallows. We had lots of wintry fun with this special project! We were so happy to have another Secret Reader this week. Be sure to sign up soon so you can come and join us too!
After reading the book, Snow Day, 1R students wrote what adults and children do when there is a big snowstorm. They then read their work to the class and made beautiful pictures using paint and collage techniques to show what a wintry day might look like. Be sure to listen to your child's snow day writing piece on his/her student blog!
We love when parents, siblings and friends come to 1R to be the Secret Reader... ...especially when we get to take a silly photograph with them!
We read about the history of the Pledge of Allegiance, and then learned how to say it in American Sign Language (ASL). This was our first day trying the signs. The boys and girls did a great job!
