As part of our social studies unit on presidents, 1R investigated a few from our country's past. We had a great time watching old television advertisements of presidents and predicting wether or not each one were elected!
We are very excited about our connection with a classroom in Hawaii! The boys and girls worked in pairs to come up with questions for a class Skype with our new friends.
We started working with doubling numbers in math. We then choreographed a Doubles Rap to help us remember these handy facts. It was fun making up the dance with Miss O'Reilly!
Every Friday, students write specific compliments about that week's Star of the Week. Then, we gather in the compliment circle to read them out loud. It is always one of the nicest parts of our week!
This week's Secret Reader displayed the illustrations from his books on our screen. It was such a fun way to enjoy the stories!
To prepare for our Skype call with Kansas, we measured the snow around our school in five different spots. Then, we took the average of our measurements. We discovered that the average amount of snow is 25.2 inches. That is the same height as 16 of our literacy trays!
