Learning about Digital Citizenship

Our paper footprints help us remember that we all leave a digital footprint online.

1R students are learning how to be good digital citizens.  We use our bodies to help us to remember how to act online:

• We use our heads to remember our safety rules.  We never give out personal information or match our photographs with our names.

• We use our hearts to remember to always write kind words to people online, even if we don't know them personally.  We realize that everyone has feelings and we need to show them respect.

• We use our feet to remember that we always leave a digital footprint.  The photographs and words you put online stay forever.

We are watching the DVD, 'Safety Smart', to learn some great online safety tips.

To help us remember these important safety tips, we made paper footprints with our names on them as a symbol of our digital footprints.  Then, we wrote examples of kind comments we could make to others online on paper hearts.  Lastly, we put on a special hardhat to help us remember to always think about safety.
