passionate about penguins!

We are excited about starting our new unit on penguins! Students in 1R will be exploring all species of this animal in the month of January. So far, we have had fun learning the different names of penguins and talking about the similarities and differences between them. Students worked as a class and with partners to make observations based on pictures of different penguins.

1R scientists know the importance of documenting their thinking and discoveries! The boys and girls carefully labeled and sketched a picture of their penguin in their science notebooks. As good scientists do, the students recorded their observations and any questions they have. These questions will be further explored and answered in the weeks to come. Be sure to listen to your child's penguin observation on his or her blog!
