Vibration Exploration

1R students investigated the claim that sound is caused by vibrations.

We used tuning forks in water to see vibrations!

We could hear the sounds made by the vibrating tuning forks.

The vibrations made the water splash!

We could see and feel the vibrations after we hit the tuning fork.

We loved hearing the cool sounds the forks made.

We could feel the vibrations easily.

We could see the vibrations our balloon drums made when we hit them.

Our drums made noises each time we made them vibrate.

We are figuring out that all sounds are caused by vibrations!

We could see the vibrations when we plucked the elastic bands.

We could hear the sounds the elastic bands made when we plucked them too.

Some of us thought they sounded like a guitar!

We shared our science notebooks in the science meeting.

We found lots of evidence to support the claim that sound is caused by vibrations.
