First graders set the class rules for science talk. We do not raise our hands, have our eyes on the speaker, and make sure there is only one person talking at a time. First graders shared their text to self connections with a turn and talk partner today. They thought about a time when they lost something and how they felt about that as a personal connection to the book, Patches Lost and Found. Good readers frequently make text to self connections to enhance their comprehension skills. After writing their text to self connections to the book, the boys and girls shared their work with the class.
